This large dog takes its name from the Samoyedic people of Russia. Samoyeds were bred by nomadic reindeer herders for their large, fluffy white coats. One can easily picture Santa and a Samoyed cozied up with a cup of hot cocoa and a tasty bone to chew the day after Christmas.
